1. Family member accounts
You can delete your account yourself in the app:
- Open the Family tab.
- Under Settings, press Delete account.
- Confirm by pressing Delete account permanently.
Your account, listening information, hearts, comments and voice messages are deleted. Questions you added stay with the family without your name, and the family’s memories stay with the other family members.
If you are the last family member in the family, deleting your account deletes the whole family: storytellers, all memories and questions, and the storytellers’ phone IDs.
2. Storytellers’ memories and information
Storytellers use the app with a joining code and have no email address or password in Muistola. They can delete their own memories in the app: open Memories, choose the memory, press Delete memory and confirm with Yes, delete. This also deletes the memory’s follow-ups, listening information and the family’s replies.
If a storyteller would like all of their memories and information deleted, they or their family can ask us at [email protected].
3. Asking for deletion by email
If you cannot use the app, or you would like us to do the deletion for you, send a request to [email protected]. Tell us who you are and which family you belong to. Before deleting anything, we make sure the request comes from the right person.
4. What is kept and for how long
- Backups: deleted information can remain in encrypted backups for up to 90 days.
- Audio files and photos: deleted audio or photos are removed from storage within 30 days at the latest.
- Feedback you have sent: up to two years.
- Referrals: your referral code is deleted with your account. If a family that started with your link has already started a paid Muistola year, the earned reward stays with your family.
Other retention periods are listed in section 10 of the privacy policy.
